When Jack, the American father of fifteen-year-old Marco proposes that Marco spend a part of the summer holidays with him in the United States, the boy is taken aback. After his father's divorce from his Italian wife many years ago, Jack had returned to America to devote himself to his work as a photographer and since then the relationship with his son was limited to rare phone calls and even rarer meetings. Despite his resentment of his father, Marco decides to accept the invitation, believing his father will be shooting bikini-clad models at the ocean in California, never imagining that Jack is going to drag him along a trek that will take them to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Making the tension existing between father and son worse is the presence of a young and fascinating flautist apparently linked to Jack by a deep affection, the disturbing omens of an old blind shaman, and the anguishing dreams that have been haunting Marco since his arrival in the canyon and seemingly connected to the ancient legend of a mysterious "treasure." This will be a very different holiday from what the boy had expected, fraught with difficulties, and dangers, but maybe it will help him understand his father a little better, and above all, himself as well.
